- Kyle Rudolph Top 5 TE?
Date: July 21th | 2018
Minnesota Vikings beat writer Andrew Krammer believes TE Kyle Rudolph will play a significant role in the team’s offense in 2018.
Krammer’s expectations make sense. Not only does Vikings OC Joe DeFilippo have a history of featuring the tight end in his gameplan, but QB Kirk Cousins also has a plus track record with tight ends — he made Jordan Reed a household name when healthy and played a key role in rejuvenating Vernon Davis’ career during their tie together with the Redskins. Moreover, while Rudolph has had issues staying on the field early in his career, he’s played in 52 consecutive games since 2015.
Fantasy Take
Rudolph is also the lone fantasy relevant tight end employed by the Vikings — the slated TE2 David Morgan only has 11 receptions to his name and expected TE3 fifth-round draft pick Tyler Conklin is an unknown and could be strapped for snap — which bodes well for his fantasy value in 2018. With a new offensive coordinator, plus, the addition of Kirk Cousins, Rudolph is poised for a career year. And with aging veterans Jimmy Graham, Delanie Walker and Greg Olsen full of question marks, it wouldn’t surprise me if Rudolph finished as a top 5 tight end in 2018. I’m taking him over the aforementioned thirtysomethings.
