Chris Paul traded to Rockets in massive blockbuster before NBA free agency

The Rockets did not wait to get the free-agent party started.

The Houston Rockets were always lurking as a dark horse to land free-agent-to-be Chris Paul and pair him with James Harden, but lacked the cap space to do it. Turns out, that wasn’t a problem.

The Rockets traded for Paul two days before free agency began, using a series of complex transactions to engineer a scenario where Paul opted in to the final year of his deal and they sent enough matching salary back to the Clippers to make it worth their while. Lou Williams, Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, and a 2018 first-round pick are the main pieces the Clippers will get back, but there are more players in the deal to make the money work.

Read on for all the latest updates.

Paul George trade rumors: All the latest on the Pacers star’s future

Paul George has informed the Pacers that he will not re-sign in 2018. Where does he go now?

The Paul George era in Indiana is nearing its end. George is set to become a free agent in 2018 and has informed the Pacers that he will not re-sign.

Most believe that George is eyeing his hometown Lakers as his new destination, which will depress his trade value since few teams will give up significant assets for a player likely to be a one-year rental. But the Pacers will try, and maybe the Lakers elect to make a move now to ensure that George doesn’t change his mind.

This page will keep you updated on all the latest rumors and explain how we got to this point.

NBA Tuesday: Wizards look to bounce back vs. Celtics, Warriors-Jazz begin series

Washington fell to Boston in Game 1. Meanwhile, after the Jazz won in seven games, they'll kick off their semifinals series against the presumptive league champion.

Wizards forward Markieff Morris will play in Game 2 of Washington’s second-round series against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania.

Morris suffered a sprained left ankle in the second quarter of Game 1 when he made a jump shot before landing on Al Horford’s foot. He exited the game under his own power but did not return after heading to the locker room. The Wizards went on to lose, 123-111.

Morris said after that loss he would play in Game 2, and that sitting the remainder of Game 1 out was a precautionary measure. The Wizards forward averaged 14 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for a Washington team that finished the regular season with the Eastern Conference’s fourth-best record. He is averaging almost two blocks per game during the playoffs.

Without Morris, the Wizards had paired Kelly Oubre with the starting unit, making it easier for Boston to hide Isaiah Thomas defensively.
