- Budding Bro-mance Between Amendola and Gase
Date: July 22nd | 2018
Speaking recently on the “Comeback Szn” podcast hosted by Johnny Manziel, Kayce Smith, and Erik Burkhardt, Danny Amendola had a plethora of praise for his new head coach, Adam Gase.
“He’s a coach that I want to play hard for, he’s a coach I want to get out and bust my ass in the weight room, in the practice field when nobody’s watching just because I know when we get into training camp it’s gonna be on, it’s gonna be live and it’s gonna be fun” said Amendola.
When speaking further about Gase and the comfortability in Miami compared to New England, Amendola mentioned, “It’s almost like coach Gase is one of the guys, one of the boys and you wanna fight hard for your boys. Back in New England, it’s almost like you got a principal and a principal’s office and s— like that, you know in a good way and in a bad way, too.
According to the Miami Sun Sentinel’s Chris Perkins, Erik Burkhardt, who is the agent and longtime friend of Amendola’s, said the feelings are mutual from Gase regarding Amendola. “On my side,” Burkhardt began, “it’s one of the rare one where coach Gase has actually reached out to me a couple of times and said, ‘EB, Thank you. He’s everything you told me he would be and more.”
Fantasy Spin
Amendola will be fighting former Chief, Albert Wilson, for snaps out of the slot with the departure of target hog, Jarvis Landry. Amendola has never been short on talent but has missed a ton of time in his career with various injuries. Landry had a large enough target share that you could almost divide it into both Wilson and Amendola equally and they would both be able to have some relevance as low-end WR3/4 types in fantasy. This will be a battle worth monitoring in Miami as a rebound is expected with Ryan Tannehill back under center. Amendola provides more value as a big play threat in best ball leagues right now as opposed to standard redraft leagues, but that could change if he earns a larger role on this offense alongside deep threat, Kenny Stills and “Hurry up and wait for a breakout” DeVante Parker.
