Can Laquon Treadwell Make the Third Year Receiver Leap?
.
As the 23rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Treadwell failed to register on the radar as a rookie, catching one pass for 15 yards. He did take a step forward in Year 2, but still only accounted for 20 reception for 200 yards. Despite a 6’2″, 215 pound frame that would seemingly benefit Treadwell in the Red Zone, he has yet to record an NFL touchdown. Can he make the leap in Year 3?
.
Trusting Treadwell as one of your top four receivers on your fantasy roster seems risky like betting blindly on an NFL game. It would be more wise to take a wait and see approach with Treadwell in hopes of great value off the waiver wire, just like it would be more wise to use Best online sportsbooks for you needs.
.
Treadwell was relatively quiet in his first two seasons at Ole Miss finishing with 608 and 632 yards respectively. He caught five touchdowns in each of those two seasons. In his final year at Ole Miss he finished with 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns.
.
Treadwell is not particularly fast and has plenty of competition for targets from new QB Kirk Cousins. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are both Pro Bowl talents ahead of him on the depth chart. Newcomer Kendall Wright also figures to play a solid role as the number three receiver. Tight End Kyle Rudolph and running back Dalvin Cook both figure to factor heavily in the passing game as well.
.
In short, Treadwell should remain off of rosters in most leagues until he proves himself worthy of a roster spot. There is a long line of wide receivers that break out in their third year, but I just don’t think Treadwell is heading in that direction despite home time optimism.
