Quincy Enunwa Could Be a Difference Maker
Date: July 26th | 2018

Jets rumorsWhen breaking down 5 players to keep an eye on during Jets training camp, New York Daily News reporter, Manish Meta, believes, “Enunwa’s varied skillset should turn him into a difference maker in (Jeremy) Bates’ West Coast-inspired offense.”

Meta also wisely noted, “Enunwa provides value as a blocker and a pass catcher in the slot, where he caught 62 percent of his passes in 2016. He also had the highest catch rate in the NFL on deep targets (passed of 20 or more yards in the air) two years ago, according to Pro Football Focus.”

Fantasy Spin

Enunwa missed all of last season after undergoing neck surgery but is expected to slide back into his role as the team’s slot man. Enunwa is a big man in the slot at 6’2” and 225 lbs whose best comparable player according to playerprofiler.com is Josh Gordon. There are a lot of questions surrounding the Jets offense as we head into training camp. Who will be the Week 1 quarterback, will Robby Anderson receive a suspension, and how does Jermaine Kearse fit into things after a career season last year with the team? These are all things that will help sort out Enunwa’s value. As of right now, Enunwa is a complete dice roll really after missing an entire season and being on an offense that only managed to average 199 passing yards per game last season per ESPN Stats. There is perceivable value to be had here but expectations should be tempered.

Jets Cut Former 2nd Round Pick
Date: July 16th | 2018

Devin Smith the former 2015 2nd round pick out of Ohio St. was released by the New York Jets. Devin Smith had injuries in 2016 and 2017 where he tore his ACL and missed all of last year. The receiver has had some trouble trying to recover from these injuries over the past two seasons. Hopefully, once Devin Smith can get healthy enough and play at one hundred percent, he may have a chance to catch on with another team that is in need of a young wide receiver this preseason or season.

Registering only ten receptions on thirty-one targets with one hundred and thirty-five receiving yards and one touchdown in just two seasons with the Jets, the decision to cut Devin Smith was clear for the Jets.

The Jets currently have Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, Jermaine Kearse, Terrelle Pryor, and training camp standout Chad Hansen as well as Lucky Whitehead the former Dallas Cowboy wideout, Charles Johnson, ArDarius Stewart, Andre Roberts, and Charone Peake all battling for spots on this New York Jets roster. There was just not enough room for the Jets to keep all eleven wideouts and Devin Smith was the odd man out. As the 2018 preseason unfolds, the Jets could be making more moves at the position.
