While breaking down the changes made to the Giants new offense, New York Post reporter, Paul Schwartz, noted: “Manning did not simply retain the keys to the offense. He was awarded an upgraded model, customized to fit his precise specifications.”

Schwartz also mentioned “After a fitful 2017 season, a franchise steeped in stability fired a general manager and a head coach, in unison, for the first time in 40 years. Yet Manning was not merely spared, but actually emboldened after a series of moves and decisions all designed to reach the same conclusion: In Eli we trust.”

Eli Manning and the Giants had a very forgettable 2017 campaign that was derailed by both losing essentially their entire wide receiver depth and the incompetent coaching of Ben McAdoo. The team overhauled the franchise from top to bottom, bringing in all new coaching staff, including QB friendly head coach, Pat Shurmur. The team also bolstered their offensive line and biggest glaring deficiency in offense recently by selecting running back, Saquon Barkley, second overall in this seasons draft. The Giants now have one of the most balanced offenses in the league with elite talent, Odell Beckham Jr, and rising stars in both Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley. Schwartz noted an interesting stat in his article, “Manning’s statistical contribution has not fallen off the charts — he has 128 touchdown passes and 84 interceptions the past five years, compared with 134 TDs and 80 INTs the five years before that.”

Manning was a top-10 QB in fantasy football as recently as 2014 and 2015, when he finished as the QB10 both seasons, per FantasyPros.com. Given the weapons at his disposal this season, Manning is actually an underrated, late round lottery ticket worth selecting as your QB2 in all formats this year.
