Friday Links: Senior Bowl and the Countdown to Super Bowl LII

Friday Links

I don’t know about you, but watching the NFL Pro Bowl is the definition of TV boredom. With another full week before the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots at U.S. Bank Stadium, in Minnesota, it certainly feels like the calm before the storm. Most of the Gridiron staff will admit that time feels like it’s standing still. Not because they’re anticipating the Super Bowl, but because they’re excited to finally close the book on the 2017 NFL season and begin focusing on the NFL Offseason. For most diehard Dynasty Football fans, the offseason can be a lot of fun.

The following is a collection of interesting reads to check out over the weekend.

The Senior Bowl has been growing in popularity over the years. With every NFL Draft getting bigger and bigger, fans are now interested in seeing these top prospects in action in a game format rather than running drills at their Pro-Day or taking reps at the NFL Combine. The following are some great sources to get the inside fantasy edge with what’s been going on all week at Senior Bowl Practice. Check out who to watch in the game tomorrow on the NFL Network.

Super Bowl Bets

More and more interesting stories are emerging from Las Vegas about Super Bowl 52. Including a high-roller making a bet at the MGM Grand that is apparently the biggest bet in Las Vegas history. The bet… Eagles +6 points. The following are some articles about the upcoming game including my yearly Funny Prop Bet article.

When I grew up, there was no band I loved more than Pantera, their music was constant throughout my life. Just recently, an old friend of mine whose love for music has become a career, got to interview with frontman Philip H Anselmo. The interview covers everything from music with his new band, to more than a few questions and thoughts about his favorite team the New Orleans Saints. Here’s a sample:

Kris:  As a fellow die-hard member of the Who Dat Nation, can we talk about that Vikings loss yet?

Phil: “The kid who missed that tackle is a rookie in the NFL who had one of the most impressive seasons leading up to that point, bless his heart. And my lord, that young man had his rookie moment at the wrong time. I had a friend put it like this, if the Vikings run the same play we stop it nine times out of ten. That was the play of their year, their lives even, it happens. I have seen it happen to The Saints before, I saw (a similar meltdown) happen….”  Choosing Mental Illness as a Virtue: Interview with Philip Anselmo – AbortMag.com written by Kris McDermott
