Updated Super Bowl Odds Entering The Final Week of the Season

Updated Super Bowl Odds

For the first time in years, the final week of an NFL Season won’t have a matchup that deserves to be flexed to a prime-time slot. In fact, facing such a meaningless slate of games, with no must-win head to head battles, and having the final week fall on New Year’s Eve, the NFL decided to scrap the Sunday night game altogether.

That being said, there are still three playoff spots not yet clinched, two in the AFC and one in the NFC. The Ravens and Titans are currently holding AFC playoff wildcard positions with the Chargers and Bills on the outside looking in. In the NFC, scenarios are more obvious as the Falcons control their own fate for a playoff berth. If they win, they’re in, if they lose, the Seahawks will steal the final playoff spot in the NFC.

With the 2017 NFL playoff picture near finalized, I thought I’d update the current Super Bowl Odds. Of course, you have to remember that when betting on sports events you can always shop for better odds as every sportsbook or casino will be a little different.

The following are the current Super Bowl odds as of Tuesday the 26th.

  • Odds: 2.4 to 1 | New England Patriots – No surprise here, the Patriots may not be the powerhouse we thought they’d be at the beginning of the season but they have home field advantage and the most playoff experience out of anyone. There’s an excellent chance the Pat’s are at least representing the AFC in the Super Bowl in February.
  • Odds 3.7 to 1  | Minnesota Vikings – The media isn’t giving the Vikings the respect they deserve, but currently, the Vikes hold the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl at this point. FYI:  We have them as our top team in Week 17 Power Rankings
  • Odds 5 to 1 | Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers lost a heartbreaker to the Patriots in week 16, they also lost Antonio Brown to a calf injury. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, AB is unlikely to be ready for the Wild Card round of the playoffs but luckily the Steelers they have earned a first-round bye. Hopefully, AB can return for the Divisional Round.
  • 10 to 1 | New Orleans Saints – For the first time in years, the Saints have themselves a very well balanced team, one that is arguably stronger at running the ball than it is throwing with Drew Brees. The Saints will be a tough team to knock off in the post-season. At 10 to 1 odds, they are the most tempting pick for an 11+ win team in my opinion.
  • 10 to 1 | Philadelphia Eagles – Nick Foles is a capable backup but the team has looked vulnerable in recent weeks. With home-field advantage and time to get the Defensive kinks figured out along with time to get Foles comfortable with his receiving corps, the Eagles are not a bad bet at 10 to 1.
  • 10 to 1 | Los Angeles Rams – The lack of overall playoff experience has to be one of the reasons why this young team is not a heavier favorite to win the Super Bowl at this point. Stranger things have happened but with 31-year-old Head Coach Sean McVay calling the shots, the team may be limited in a chess match type game against a guy like Bill Belichick.
  • 14 to 1 | Jacksonville Jaguars – You know what they say “Defense wins championships.” There isn’t a lot of faith in Blake Brotles, but if he and his crippled bunch of Wide Receivers can do just enough, the Jags could take it. I think 14 to 1 odds is fair here.
  • 18 to 1 | Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs are my sleeper pick for the AFC. Andy Reid is a proven Head coach and has a very deep team of veterans and impact players. 18 to 1 seems like a decent bet with upside.
  • 18 to 1 | Carolina Panthers – I honestly can’t figure the Panthers out. They have such a great looking roster on paper but you really don’t know who is going to show up. The Panthers could run the table or be first-round chumps.
  • 28 to 1 | Atlanta Falcons – Part of me wants to see the Falcons get revenge for their meltdown from last Super Bowl, and the other part of me wants them to repeat the meltdown lol. All jokes aside, this team is extremely determined, but the offense is not the same as it was from last season. They likely won’t make it two rounds.
  • 28 to 1 | Baltimore Ravens – I honestly don’t see it. With no disrespect to the Ravens, I think there are stronger teams in the NFC and that a team like the Ravens will get blown out of the water if they had to face off against a Rams or Saints in the Super Bowl.
  • 75 to 1 | Los Angeles Chargers – It starts with making the playoffs, which could be difficult.
  • 75 to 1  | Seattle Seahawks – Every team in the NFC should hope the Falcons win week 17 because nobody wants to leave the door open for Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Despite a ton of injuries, a terrible OL, the Seahawks are a nightmare in the playoffs.
  • 75 to 1 | Tennessee Titans – Don’t deserve to make the playoffs, I won’t be surprised if they blow it week 17
  • 150 1  | Buffalo Bills – The stars would have to align for them to make the playoffs.
