NCAA baseball tournament 2017: Bracket, schedule, scores, and format
The field of 64 will be cut to 16 teams come Monday.
The 2017 NCAA baseball tournament kicks off Friday with all 64 teams in action. Oregon State (49-4) is this year’s top overall national seed, followed by UNC, Florida, and LSU. These latter two are among eight SEC teams playing in this year’s postseason, the most of any conference in the country.
Last year’s tournament champions, Coastal Carolina, failed to make the cut this year.
The opening regional round ranks the country’s top eight national seeds and the next eight regional host clubs. At these 16 sites, four teams gather for a double-elimination mini-tournament. The winners of the national seed regionals are then paired off with the winners of the non-national seed regionals, and they play best-of-three series during the tournament’s super regional weekend.
The eight remaining teams from the super regional round make the trek to Omaha, Neb., for the College World Series proper. They’re split off into two groups of four and replay the mini-tournament style brackets of the first round. The winners of those two brackets will then stay in Omaha for a best-of-three head-to-head series for the tournament’s closing weekend.
Every game of the entire tournament can be streamed at WatchESPN. The network’s coverage is especially fun during the opening weekend, when viewers can split-screen up to four separate games simultaneously. We’ll update this post throughout the weekend with winners and losers bracket matchups, times, and scores.
