FantasyDraft Cash Game Picks for Week 1
Remember that you need to build your rosters with the contest settings in mind. In terms of cash games, choosing players with safer production projections is the best approach. This is because everybody that finishes within the top range receives the same payout. So in a 50/50 contest for example of 60 entries finishing 30th will net you the same winnings as placing 1st. So save your boom-or-bust players for tournament (GPP) play.

The Bengals are playing the Colts in Week 1 and that’s why the Red Rifle is a great play this week. The Colts allowed more than 16.8 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position in 2017. They will also be starting cornerbacks Pierre Desir, Kenny Moore II, and Nate Hairston. Safe to say you can confidently play A.J Green in cash and start John Ross in tournament plays.
Alex Collins is the obvious choice at running back against the Bills last-place ranked run defense. He projects to have high ownership but should back up that production. Similar to Collins, James Conner is just such a great cheap asset he is to hard to pass up with the volume he projects to see in the Pittsburgh offense. Especially if the weather plays a factor in the game.
Larry Fitzgerald absolutely dominates at home and we should see the same against the Redskins. From the slot, Fitzgerald projects to match up with Fabian Moreau. Moreau in 2017 allowed the highest percentage of targets per route run from the slot.
Rob Gronkowski is the chalk of tight end picks this week, with the Patriots just lacking so many offensive skill players. He will be well worth the price.
GPP Game Picks for Week 1
Who wants to win $25,000? If that sounds like you then tournament play is where you want to play. When building tournament lineups on FantasyDraft remember you need to place within at least the top 25% to receive a payout. So make sure to diversify your lineups with players that will have low ownership. Try to avoid most chalk players because if everybody has them, it will not help you place in tournaments.

Again, it has to be Andy Dalton at quarterback. A lot of players will shy away from him, because well he’s Andy Dalton. But stay the course and start Dalton in GPP as well a cash. His price and matchup are just too good. Dak Prescott could also be another great play because nobody is going to have him in their lineups against Carolina. With Prescott’s rushing upside, however, he could be an easy return on investment.
Kenyan Drake is a player that most certainly won’t be owned heavily because Alex Collins is cheaper! You should not overlook him though because in his last 4 home games he has scored 20+ fantasy points when he has at least 9 carries. Please Adam Gase, just hand Drake the ball. Jeremy Hill and Mike Gillislee are dart throws, but have touchdown upside as potential goalline backs in high-powered offenses. Also dirt-cheap.
Sterling Shepard is my wide receiver darling this week because of the Jacksonville corners locking down the outside. Shepard will see a ton of work in the middle of the field and it would not surprise me at all to see him lead the team in targets on Sunday. The other Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has the toughest matchup versus Jalen Ramsey, but realistically he just needs one slant route to the house! Don’t be afraid to take a chance on him in tournaments. If he is able to break some big plays, your lineups will dominate.
Vance McDonald has been downgraded to out, so it’s possible that it could be Jesse James could be the TE to benefit from the matchup versus the Browns. In Week 1 last season James had a 6/41/2 stat line. I remember making this tweet from Week 1 from last season. You won’t fool me this time James!
