7 Recommended Players for FanDuel Cash Games

Fanduel Cash Games

I am going to start here today with a statement that you have probably heard and seen everywhere. Football is back! Just like you, I have been waiting for this day since the NFL season ended after the Superbowl in February. It seems like an eternity since I was able to do nothing on Sunday’s but watch football. The best news of the week is that this Sunday, my day will be consumed by watching all of my players and developing a new love for even more players.

When deciding to play daily fantasy sports it is important to understand the lingo and what certain types of games mean. There is a big difference between cash games (50/50s and Head-to-Head) and GPPs (Guaranteed Prize Pool). Cash games pay out the top 50% of entries by doubling the entry fee. As long as you finish inside the top 50% of the league you get paid the same amount as the person that wins. This is the format that should be utilized to maintain/build your bankroll (money to spend each week) on a weekly basis.

The last thing that needs to be decided on is the site to play on. There are so many different DFS sites that you can find the one you like the most and play on that or play on several different sites. I will be focusing on FanDuel today. I am going to examine 7 players to consider in FanDuel cash games main slate.

Philip Rivers
$7,500 on FanDuel

Philip Rivers is getting ready to play the division rival Kansas City Chiefs. According to DailyRoto, the Chiefs gave up the 9th most points to Quarterbacks in 2017. According to ESPN, the Chiefs were 29th in passing yards allowed and tied for 15th in passing touchdowns allowed. The Chiefs traded Marcus Peters to the Rams and are filling his role with Kendall Fuller who was with the Redskins in 2017. The Chiefs are filling the other outside CB position with Steven Nelson. Both Fuller and Nelson were slot corners in 2017.  In that role, against 49 targets, Nelson allowed a QB rating of 103.1. There are reports that Eric Berry may miss week 1 as well and if he plays, he may not be 100%.

Kirk Cousins
$7,600 on FanDuel

Kirk Cousins will be taking on a 49ers defense that was 4th worst against quarterbacks in 2017. The 49ers also gave up the 24th most passing touchdowns. With Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon, the 49ers are in rough shape at the position. Sherman can be easily avoided and the Vikings should use their talent to attack the better matchups. According to The Quant Edge, Witherspoon allowed a QB rating of 88.5 in 2017.

Alvin Kamara
$8,700 on FanDuel

Kamara at home, against a Buccaneers defense that was 5th worst against running backs in 2017, with no Mark Ingram, is a screaming value. The Buccaneers also allowed 17 rushing touchdowns in 2017 which was 3rd most. I don’t see a back on the roster that will fill Ingram’s role completely, meaning Kamara is going to be the featured back in the offense this week.  The Saints are significantly favored over the Bucs this week, which should mean more carries/touches for Kamara as the Saints attempt to close out the game in the second half.

Alex Collins
$6,700 on FanDuel

The Bills allowed the 4th most rushing yards and most touchdowns in the NFL last season. Alex Collins is looking at a positive game script here and in a .5 point ppr scoring setting the pass-catching backs aren’t as valuable. Collins is going to get touches early, often, and late. Opportunity is key and Collins should get plenty of opportunity in a plus matchup. Add in the fact, that the Bills allowed the most points per game to the running back in 2017 by almost a full point, and Collins is a huge value at his price point.

Adam Theilen
$7,600 on FanDuel

See Kirk Cousins. Although Stefon Diggs is $200 cheaper, this week belongs to Theilen. The 49ers acquired Richard Sherman in the offseason. Sherman, although he has not shadowed a teams best receiver in the past, he is a left side cornerback. Diggs played almost half of his snaps at right receiver, meaning Diggs could see Sherman during half of his routes run. Add in the fact that K’Waun Williams is the nickel corner and he allowed a QB rating of 94.1 last season, and Theilen should be a huge weapon from the slot.  Theilen lined up in there 41.1% of the time and his QB had a 100.5 rating when throwing to him in 2017.  Theilen is poised for a huge game and is the Vikings receiver to own this week.

Emmanuel Sanders
$6,300 on FanDuel

Case Keenum is an upgrade to Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch.  Keenum is a QB that likes to target his slot receiver.  This is a position that Sanders lined up in 28.4% of the time.  The bigger reason that I like Sanders this week is the lack of talent the Seahawks have in the secondary. Shaquill Griffin and Dontae Johnson are the two starters.  Griffin allowed a 72.4 QB rating while Johson gave up a 109.1 QB rating. Sanders is the cheaper option on Denver and in a great position to succeed in week 1.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins
$4,600 on FanDuel

Everyone knows the top talent at tight end with Rob Gronkowski, Travis Kelce, and Zach Ertz. I like to find players at tight end that are values. Guys I can spend less on with potential for big games. This allows me to spend up at other positions. This week that guy is Austin Seferian-Jenkins. The Jaguars play the New York Giants in week 1.  With a quick look back to 2017 using DailyRoto, we see the Giants were the worst team when facing tight ends. With Marqise Lee injured and out for the season, ASJ will be the primary middle of the field target. ASJ is one of the cheapest starting TE options but offers some of the most upside while bringing a safe floor against a defense that can’t guard tight ends. The 4 starting LBs are Kareem Martin, Alec Ogletree, B.J. Goodson, and Olivier Vernon. Martin and Vernon only defended 5 total passes combined. Goodson allowed a QB rating of 136.6, while Ogletree allowed 113.1 in 2017.

Good luck in week 1 and may the Fantasy Gods be in your favor.
