Agholor Has a Chance to Lead Eagles in Receiving Yards
Date: August 30th | 2018

When tweeting some thoughts and predictions regarding the defending Super Bowl champs, The Athletic Philadelphia’s Sheil Kapadia noted:

“I think Nelson Agholor will lead the Eagles in receiving yards. Led NFL with 751 yards from the slot last year. Best route-runner on the team and continues to improve. Led Eagles in RZ targets (18) and receptions (13) last season.”

While Alshon Jeffery is technically still slated as the teams WR1, Kapadia had this to say about him:

“Jeffery should be more efficient when he returns, but don’t know when that will be. Had 7 red-zone TDs last year.”

Fantasy Spin

Connecting the dots here from Kapadia’s observations, Agholor’s boost in production could be slightly reliant on Jeffery’s health. The real hurdle will be passing Zach Ertz in the pecking order. What isn’t mentioned, however, is that Agholor has been dealing with an unspecified lower-body injury himself and has been sidelined for over two weeks.

Agholor, a former first-round draft pick out of USC, enjoyed a third-year breakout last season, finishing with a 62/768/8 line. He ranked third on the team in receiving yards last year behind Zach Ertz (824 yards) and Alshon Jeffery (789 yards). Agholor’s 8 TD’s last season put him in good company with players like A.J. Green, Doug Baldwin, Stefon Diggs, Michael Crabtree, Sammy Watkins and Devin Funchess.

Jeffery is expected to be out for the first two weeks and could miss more than that as he was even rumored at one point to open the season on the PUP list. While that move sounds unlikely at this point, Jeffery is still no stranger to watching games from the sidelines. He has missed 11 games over the last three years.

Even without Carson Wentz under center, Agholor remained a consistent producer at the end of last season. His ceiling was reached last year in Week 13 where he put up a 7/141/1 line on the Seahawks.

The Eagles are looking to repeat their success from last season as one of the highest scoring teams in the league. Agholor is a solid buy in the early/mid 9th round of fantasy drafts as a potential weekly WR2 option. If Jeffery struggles to stay on the field this season, we could see Agholor take another big step forward and flirt closer towards that 1,000-yard mark.

Mack Hollins To See More Targets?
Date: July 15th | 2018

Jimmy Kempski of the PhillyVoice, suggests second-year wide receiver Mack Hollins could see a “modest increase in opportunities” this season. Despite the Eagles having an explosive offensive, they aren’t exactly loaded with pass catchers. Hollins is slotted as the 4th WR on the teams NFL Depth Charts.

The Eagles leading receiver Alshon Jeffery, was a non-participant in spring practices as he is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff suffered during 2017 training camp. Jeffery should be ready for the preseason, but there is an opportunity for Hollins, along other receivers to get an increase in opportunities this summer. Read more about the Eagles Training camp preview here.

Fantasy Spin: Mack Hollins has more value in deep leagues or Dynasty Football, but he shouldn’t be ignored. If an injury did occur, Hollins would be launched into a starting role. Hollins is 24-years-old and did make a modest impact in his first season in the NFL. The 2017 4th-round pick from North Carolina had 16 catches for 226 yards and a touchdown across 282 offensive snaps in his rookie season. Hollins should improve on those numbers this season as he is more comfortable with the offense and quarterback(s) under center.
