Mock: 2015 NFL Mock Draft
Below is a 2015 NFL Mock Draft, that of course has all kinds of 2015 fantasy football implications. Who will your favorite team select on draft day? 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
Jameis Winston is the likely choice here for Tampa Bay, but of course there is some speculation that the team could at least consider Marcus Mariota. It’s not likely, though. It sounds like the organization is very high on Winston, so much so that there are reports that they have Winston rated higher than Cam Newton coming out of college. Winston is smart, he has a big-time quarterback IQ, and pairing him with Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins, this is a great spot for the long-term (both fantasy-wise and just NFL-wise.
2. Tennessee Titans: Leonard Williams, DE/DT, USC
A potential trade-down could be in the cards given need vs best player available. Leonard is the best player available at this point and should be the 1.02 if Tennessee is smart up above.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Dante Fowler, DE/OLB, Florida
Dante Fowler was ultra-impressive at the NFL Combine, his stock is climbing fast. Explosive. Violent (on the field), this kid is going to be a fantastic NFL player right out of the gate. He ran an impressive 4.61 at the combine, and he weighs 261 pounds. He is often compared to Oakland outside linebacker Khalil Mack.
4. Oakland Raiders: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
It wouldn’t be too shocking to see some trading going on in the 2-10 range, as Oakland will likely want Leonard Williams, but I’m not so sure they’d pass on Kevin White should they stay at the 1.04. Amari Cooper and Kevin White are likely the top-ranked receivers for most teams in the NFL, but White’s got the momentum for being the top wide receiver taken on draft day, and there could be 4-6 receivers going in the top 30 this year. White is a faster version of Larry Fitzgerald, and in the right spot, he could thrive right away in the NFL. I wouldn’t call this the best spot, but White is going to dominate the space around him no matter who throws the football to him, so he is more situation-proof than Cooper. White ran a 4.35 at the NFL combine, and he had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump.
5. Washington Redskins: Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska
A big-time prospect that was ranked in the top two for months. A strong combine by Fowler has pushed Gregory down, but that just gives a team like the Redskins solid value with this selection.
6. New York Jets: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Marcus Mariota and Leonard Williams are the picks for Tennessee up above. Tennessee is trying to convince everyone that they believe in Zach Mettenberger, but Mariota impressed at the combine, especially in interviews, and both Leonard Williams and Mariota command consideration for the Titans at 1.02. Is Mariota not a good fit in Tennessee? That’s what many will say, and honestly, I can’t say I disagree. Mariota doesn’t fit the mold for Ken Whisenhunt, and there aren’t a lot of weapons to surround Mariota with, something he’d need to succeed early on. Still, Mariota going to Tennessee seems 50/50 – for now. If he falls here, I see the Jets grabbing him without much hesitation.
7. Chicago Bears: Danny Shelton, NT, Washington
The Bears are moving to a 3-4 defense and Danny Shelton, often compared to Haloti Ngata, can fill a void/need for the Bears.
8. Atlanta Falcons: Vic Beasley, DE/OLB, Clemson
An edge rusher is likely for the Falcons with this pick, and there are a couple, so they should land a good fit. His strong showing at the NFL Combine has lifted him into the top 6-10 range. He cranked out 37 reps in the bench press and ran a solid 4.53 in the 40.
9. New York Giants: Brandon Scherff, OT/G, Iowa
Brandon Scherff could help at the left guard position. The Giants could go a number of different ways in this one, but offensive line seems logical. Erick Flowers (OT) is another option here.
10. St. Louis Rams: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Amari Cooper is smooth and polished. He is a crisp route runner, and I mean crisp. He feels like a Marvin Harrison-type player, one that can truly be a team’s top wide receiver option. Is St. Louis the ideal spot fantasy-wise? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s not awful. I’d love to see him get inserted into an offense that had an elite passer already in place, but things change fast in the NFL, so in 2-3 years, right when most receivers reach their elite level, St. Louis could have a gun slinger under center. This kid feels like a top 12 lock and a likely top 6-10 overall pick on draft day.

13. New Orleans Saints: Shane Ray, DE/OLB, Missouri
14. Miami Dolphins: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
15. San Francisco 49ers: Dorial Green-Beckham, Jr., WR, Missouri
16. Houston Texans: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh
17. San Diego Chargers: Eddie Goldman, DE/DT, Florida State
18. Kansas City Chiefs: La’el Collins, OT/G, LSU
19. Cleveland Browns: Eddie Goldman, DE/DT, Florida State
20. Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Alvin Dupree, DE/OLB, Kentucky
22. Pittsburgh Steelers: Landon Collins, S, Alabama
23. Detroit Lions: Malcom Brown, DT, Texas
24. Arizona Cardinals: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
25. Carolina Panthers: Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
26. Baltimore Ravens: Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State
27. Dallas Cowboys: Eli Harold, DE/OLB, Virginia
