Brewers bring back Fransico Rodriguez on two-year deal

The Milwaukee Brewers have given closer Francisco Rodriguez a two-year deal to return with the team.

While the Brewers had been talking to the Philadelphia Phillies about a trade for Jonathan Papelbon, it always seemed that re-signing Rodriguez was the easier path.

After posting a 3.04 ERA and a 73/18 K/BB ratio across 68 innings last season the Brewers will again ticket Rodriguez for ninth inning duties. He picked up 44 saves in 49 chances last season.

The re-signing of Rodriguez will push Jonathan Broxton back into a setup role.

In 799 career games Rodriguez has accumulated 348 saves with a 2.74 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. He should have little problem being a valuable fantasy player as well as insurance at the back of the bullpen for the Brewers.
