Fanspeak Draft Simulator: Dallas Cowboys
Fanspeak offers a pretty cool, and fun, draft simulator in which you can draft for a team of your choice. In this instance, I drafted for the Dallas Cowboys. Fans, would you be happy with this draft class?

Round 1, Pick 27: Michael Bennett – DT, Ohio State
Height: 6-2 Weight: 288 Prospect Rank: 5
Bennett is slightly undersized which can be a cause for concern against the run. However, he makes up for it in other places. He shoots gaps extremely fast and causes disruption in the backfield. He had 13 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles on the season for OSU. Dallas need to keep improving a vastly improved defense. Taking a top five prospect at the position was an easy choice.

Round 2, Pick 28: Charles Gaines – CB, Louisville
Height: 5-11 Weight: 180 Prospect Rank: 10
Gaines switched from receiver to cornerback, and the transition has left room for improvement with his technique. However, this kid has a ton of natural ability and could evolve into a lockdown corner with NFL coaching.

Round 3, Pick 27: Josh Harper – WR, Fresno State
Height: 6-1 Weight: 185 Prospect Rank: 17
Harper has all the makings of your prototypical possession receiver. I doubt Dallas will let Dez Bryant get away, and Terrence Williams had flashed some splash-play ability. The Cowboys need a consistent second option for Tony Romo, and Harper can fill that void.

Round 4, Pick 28: Owamagbe Odighizuwa – DE, UCLA
Height: 6-3 Weight: 270 Prospect Rank: 12
Staying with the theme of improving the defense, taking Odighizuwa here was another no-brainer. Projected to possibly go as high as round two, he fell to the fourth in this instance. He is a versatile and intriguing mix of size, speed, and athletic ability.

Round 5, Pick 27: Dean Marlowe – S, James Madison
Height: 6-2 Weight: 205 Prospect Rank: 14
Marlowe is projected to go a little later than the 5th round, but I am personally very high on him. Coming from a small school, he will be overlooked and could be an absolute steal for whoever picks him. He’s a high-risk, high-reward prospect and I am rolling with the latter on this one. His college resume’ as a safety and special teams player on both sides is very impressive.

Round 7, Pick Pick 17: Terrence Magee – RB, LSU
Height: 5-9 Weight: 218 Prospect Rank: 21
With DeMarco Murray’s future in question in Dallas, taking a flyer on a prospect like Magee in the 7th round can’t hurt. Plenty of lower-round backs have turned out to be very good, that’s why running backs aren’t taken early anymore. If anything he adds quality depth behind whoever the starter ends up being.

Round 7, Pick 26: Tyrus Thompson – OT, Oklahoma
Height: 6-5 Weight: 336 Prospect Rank: 7
It would be the steal of the century if the 7th ranked prospect at tackle fell this far. The Cowboys already have the league’s best offensive line, so adding a guy like Thompson will only keep that area strong, especially incase an injury occurs. A real easy pick here.
